Our Story π
Hi, my name is Deelight and Iβm glad youβre here! Let me tell you a little bit about the journey that lead to Petal and Paper Studio.Β
It all started in January of 2023, on a whim. I was pregnant at the time with my son, Leo, and as a result had quit my job as a retail florist. Needless to say, I was supposed to be resting, but I was bored. I wanted to feel useful again, to bring people joy, and to contribute to my household financially.Β
And so I went shopping. At the time I didnβt know exactly what I wanted to do. In fact, I had this idea in my head about creating gift baskets. But when I got home, this idea turned into something else. I wanted to stand out. How many people do gift baskets? A lot. I didnβt want to be like everyone else. I wanted to create something that felt more βmeβ.
I remembered my mom showing me, some time ago, beautiful money flower designs from Philippines, her home. She told me how popular they were for special occasions. She mentioned casually I should do it since it was not a thing here in Bermuda. At the time I thought nothing of it. But, as I was looking for some kind of purpose, I remembered. I also remembered my time as a retail florist, how the younger people always complained about paying for flowers that are βjust going to dieβ (as a florist I wholly disagree with this statement, the fact they die is what makes them so precious, but I digress). The wheels in my head started turning and I had a better idea.Β
So I got to work. Funny enough, I had bought everything I needed despite having a different goal in mind. I suppose you could call that fate or God in the works. Within an hour or two I had my product, I took photos, posted to instagram, and came up with a name, Deelightful Design. Soon, I had orders.Β
I launched less than two weeks before Valentines Day. Was it perfect? No. In fact I have a lot of regrets about not properly branding myself (please if youβre starting out this is so important. People need to recognize your work). I started taking orders on WhatsApp and through DMs, there was no website, only vibes β¨ My husband took the day off work to do the deliveries and pickups while I worked at home on the bouquets. We continued this for each holiday, only taking orders for special occasions.
Fast forward to 2026, we rebranded into Petal & Paper Studio, a name that felt more aligned for our business as we continue to scale. We have a website and now take same day delivery! We have different brands under the Petal and Paper umbrella including: The Finishing Touch for custom ribbon printing, and The Pearl Collection which is a bespoke jewelry collection that drops once a month with designs including real flowers.Β
Itβs not always easy to juggle everything with two kids, but everyday I am glad that I can work on this business for my family. It warms my heart when my daughter watches me make orders and says she wants to create things just like me. I hope I can prove to her and other little ones that you can invest in yourself and WIN. That you can actually love and enjoy how you make money. That the arts are a valid career, because I wish someone would have told little me.Β
So, I want to say thank you, for joining me on my journey- itβs far from over! Thank you for your support, every sale supports this family allows us to continue to grow into something I would have never thought possible.Β
If you read this far, I truly appreciate you. Thank you for taking the time to read about our journey.Β
Good things are coming β¨Β
xoxo,Β
